Korean street food/ Noryangjin cup rice shops 'Cupbap mania 컵밥매니아' and 'Poktan bap 폭탄밥'

These days Noryangjin came to my mind. So I went there, especially for cup rice. It is a strong firepower cup rice shop 'Cupbap mania 컵밥매니아' who uses torch. The Cupbap mania is located in the middle of Noryangjin cupbap alley. 
 

Chef or boss who is cooking meats with torch . He put cheese on an egg and he even cook a cheese by torch.

The menus of Cupbap mania is various. The main menu of Cupbap mania is BBQ Chicken Mayo.But there was a more eye-catching menu. It is a cupbap with Kimchi and seasoned ribs. Spice ribs are the first time in Noryangjin cup street.


Place half of the grilled meat on the iron plate and make a torch instantly when the order comes in. Stir-fried Kimchi is provided for more food, Self service. If you put spicy chili sauce, it will be more delicious.


I ordered the Yanggalbi Kimchi cupbap and mozzarella cheese. There is an egg fry on top of the well-seasoned ribs. Appearance is a passing point at once. The shape of the spice ribs is quite right.
 
The mozzarella cheese I was wondering was hidden inside the line after the egg. The combination of cheesy and egg frying is not common but suits well. Here is a pork rib marinated in season! The idea is a clever.
 
I put a bite into the mouth by gently rubbing. It is an affordable Cupbap, but the quality of the meat is not bad. It can not follow the taste of the meat where you eat at the regular restaurants. But the cup beef has a unique flavor. Spicy flavorful meat and a chewy egg fry are unique in that they have not been found in other foods.
 
The sweetness of the kimchi makes the finish taste refreshing. I think that the quality of the maximum that can be expected at such a low price extracted it.



I have come to visit a 'Poktan bap 폭탄밥' that is known to be among the Noryangjin Cup rice street. Here is promoting that they appeared in popular Korean TV program 'Tasty Guys 맛있는 녀석들'
 
I sometimes eat here while going to Noryangjin and Poktan bap keeps its taste for a long time in Noryangjin where many shops are created and disappears.
 
 

Like other Cup bap shops, there are a lot of menus. The main menu here is Spicy poktan bap! If you cannot eat a spicy food, Tuna and kimchi cup bap(참치마요 김치컵밥) is better for you. Basically, roasted kimchi and a variety of sauces enter it so there is no bland taste in Poktan bap.
 
While I was taking photoes, foods I ordered came out. These are Spam Poktan cup rice and Tuna mayo kimchi cup rice. I came home with packed Poktan cup rices.
 

First of all, it is Tuna mayo Kimchi cup bap with Seasoned chicken. I see only fried eggs, fried chicken and roasted Kimchi. If you rub the rice well, the tuna mayo appears. Canned corn is also included, which helps to refresh the taste of chewing. Chicken was salty than I thought. And if you order with a sense of normal tuna, you might feel a bit rich.
 
But I like this menu cause I like to mix things together. After eating it, I feel that stress is also solved because of the spicy taste.


This is Spam Poktan bap. It's the representative menu of Poktan bap. There is no stir fried kimchi
and chicken. Instead, spicy spices and cheese are included. Well mixed Poktan rice is like a bibimbap at a glance. If only a few herbs are added here, It would like the Jeonju bibimbap.
 
When you put the rice into your mouth, the spicy comes up. If you like spicy foods, enjoy it, if not you need to be careful.
 
Actually I cannot eat well spicy foods, but I like to eat. Spicy spices, egg fry and spam. The harmony of these three is a fantasy encounter that can not be tasteless. It is fortunate to be able to eat such harmonious food at low prices in Noryangjin, Seoul.

Young Korean like to eat Tteokbokki | Yeoljeongdo 'Saenggaknaseo Tteokbokki' in Yongsan, Seoul

Seoul Yongsan has an island. The name is Yeoljeong-do. (* Yeoljeong means passion and Do도 means island in Korean.)
 
About four years ago, young people with little money opened a store in Yongsan's print alley where are declining. Yeoljeong-do began. Yeoljeong-do created by the passion of young people like that.
Yeoljeong-do alley looks like a triangle island if you look at the map! That's why it's called Yeoljeong-do. It means that Yeoljeong-do is not a real island.
 
Yeoljeongdo has become increasingly famous from the nearby Sookmyung Women's University, and now it has become a specialty of Yongsan, Seoul.
 
Today, I came to eat 'Saenggaknaseo Tteokbokki' in Yeoljeongdo. And I relaxed the stress in the 'Comcom Oraksil(old style arcade)' of Yeoljeongdo.
Those shops run by young people all. There are also a lot of young people in their main customer base.
 

First, Saenggaknaseo Tteokbokki is inside of the Yeoljeongdo alley. How about the Tteokbokki shop is managing by young people?
The Tteokbokki shop is very small. There are four tables in the above picture and a few more tables in the left space.


 
Saenggaknaseo Tteokbokki is instant tteokbokki. I was worried about what would happen if I could not order for one person. Fortunately, it is possible to order for a person.
What I chose from the menu is red tteokbokki. You can also choose from a variety of toppings. I chose the side menu instead of topping.
 
It is a Tteokbokki which is put on a gas burner and increases heat more and more. And fried dumplings and rice cakes are on a side menu picture of the left wall. Both of them seemed to be
good, so I decided to order both.


 
This is dumplings. The usual dumplings were mixed with spicy and sweet sauce. It is similar to a spice chicken sauce. The taste is very good. The dumplings are also plump and delicious.
Looks spicy but not spicy at All. I ate four alone.


Fried rice cake that came out during that time. They fried the rice cakes and sprinkled peanuts and condensed milk on them. It is an ordinary combination. But the taste is good! It is the
rice cake which is right after splashed out. It's really crispy and sweet.


Tteokbokki is all cooked. I put one on the plate and eat one. 'Saenggaknaseo Tteokbokki' is not much of a spice. It is sweet and sour. It is a taste that teenagers will like.


It was a little sorry for me, but it is okay. Instead of Tteokbokki, fried dumplings and rice cakes were very delicious.
 
After eating Tteokbokki, I moved to the next place. Comcom Oraksil! It is a place that retains the atmosphere of an old arcade.



 
There is an old game like Initial D. There is also a 'Mole catching' machine which was in front of an old apartment buildings in South Korea.
 
The enthusiasm of young people summoned memories of my childhood. I applaud their enthusiasm for creating such a cultural area in Yongsan.

Korean Summer food 'Naengmyeon' | Halmeoni Naengmyeon in Cheongnyangni, Seoul

 
Pyongyang Naengmyeon(cold noodles) became a symbol of peace at the South and North Korea summit. I thought that I should eat Naengmyeon after seeing that. At this time, the delicious  Naengmyeon that came up in my head are wonderfully Halmeoni Naengmyeon 할머니 냉면 that I had eaten in Cheongnyangni a few years ago.
 
It is spicy Naengmyeon, but the deep taste of broth is excellent. I don't know who put the word '3 cold noodles of Seoul' but Halmeoni Naengmyeon is one of the most delicious cold noodles in my oppinion.


Halmeoni Naengmyeon are located in Seoul Cheongyangni Fruits and vegetables Wholesale Market. It looks like Halmeoni Naengmyeon hasn't changed even though I found the restaurant in a few years. Late, but many people are eating noodles.
 
The menu of Halmeoni Naengmyeon is simple. The price is 5000 won for Naengmyeon, 6000 won for double Naengmyeon, and 2,000 won for extra noodles. Unless you are particularly hungry because there are so many sheep, it will be enough for you to eat regular Naengmyeon.
 
Beef broth is a highlight of Halmeoni Naengmyeon. Broth is the beginning and end of the Halmeoni Naengmyeon. Cold broth is bottled and Hot broth is self-service.
 

This is cold broth. I drink cold broth with ice in the cup. After drink a half broth, you can pour the other half in the remaining Naengmyeon. And it will become Mul-Naengmyeon(Water Cold
noodles). 
 
Please enjoy hot broth, too. I liked hot broth more than cold broth. You can drink hot broth in the middle of eating Naengmyeon. It is good to put it in advance.
 
 
I have double Halmeoni Naengmyeon. Caution! The red sauce on the Halmeoni Naengmyeon is really spicy even for Korean. Halmeoni Naengmyeon are spicy cold noodles originally. So do not rub
all the sauce. Leave it over half and rub it with tasting. It is not spicy at the moment of eating but you will feel spicy taste after eating it a bit. Please be careful.
 

 
Cucumber is abundant on the Naengmyeon surface. If you don't take cucumber, Naengmyeon will be very slim. Radish is also contained in the Halmeoni Naengmyeon.
Cut the Naengmyeon one time with scissors and rub well all ingredient. Egges on Naengmyeon are well boiled.


When you first eat Halmeoni Naengmyeon, you may feel that there is no big difference from other Naengmyeons. If you put a lot of red seasonings, you may feel a sense of spicy. And Noodles
of Halmeoni Naengmyeon are not unique or sophisticated. 
 
So why is Halmeoni Naengmyeon delicious and long remembered? The answer is that the beef broth are in the right place.
 
It is difficult to know if you eat Halmeoni Naengmyeon just a bit. Like the spicy taste that comes up late, the taste of the broth also comes up one beat late. You can think that it is just cold noodles. When you move the chopsticks in such a way, the deep flavor will begin to accumulate a little bit from deep inside of you.


It is about the time deep flavor explode when almost all of the Naengmyeon are eaten. When you eat the last noodles of Naengmyeon, you will know why Halmeoni Naengmyeon is delicious  Naengmyeon. It's as if I had seen a movie that was ordinary at first but reversed at last.
 
Halmeoni Naengmyeon that I had eaten for a long time were still tasty, spicy and refreshing. I thought that Cheongnyangni was far from my house. But Idon't think it is far now. It's summer
now.  I will go to the Han River for a walk and then I'll go to Halmeoni Naengmyeon again.

5 nice restaurants in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul/ 5. Wellbeing Dubu Maeul 웰빙 두부마을

 
 
Tofu is a healthy diet. I like tofu very much. Few foods can be eaten as easily as tofu. Of course, I mean tofu which is not fried. For a long time I found the Wellbeing Dubu Maeul in Daeryung Post Tower of Seoul Guro Digital Complex for a comfortable meal. 

I am looking forward to serving rice because here also serve Sotbap(Kettle rice). Wellbeing Dubu Maeul with a casual tofu dish unlike the great description of creative tofu. However this is characterized by the instant rice cooked with Sotbap.

 
 
These are menus of Wellbeing Dubu Maeul of Guro Digital Complex. To eat for lunch, Sundubu is good. If you order a meal menu, you will be served a Sotbap by default. If you want to have some mor rice, you can say 'please give me a lot of rice'.
 
As you can see from above image, there is a big rice cooker that make Sotbap. And there is also a good place 'Nolbu Maleun Seoleong Tang' to eat rice in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul. I think the two restaurants can make a good competition. 

 
The basic side dishs came out. First one from above is a mushroom. I ordered one more mushroom because it is my favorite side dish especially . It is delicious to eat with rice.
The green seaweed stem side dish is hard to get used to despite my efforts. I do not like this but many people seem to like it cause I see it served as a side dish at various Korean restaurants.
 
There is a bowl containing Gim(sea weed) on one side. Because of the combination of Sotbap and Gim, my expectation is getting bigger. 

 
 
This is Sotbap. It is white rice with a little bit of black rice. First, put rice to a bowl in Sotbap. Then pour hot water over the rice in Sotbap pressed against the floor. Because it is hot water, you have to pour carefully. After pouring water, cover the lid of Sotbap and wait.

 
 
It is Bulgogi Sundubu which came out in the meantime. It is time to eat important Sotbap now. It is rice which has the unique texture of rice bowl, but it feels that it is a little lack of flavor cause difference of rice.

 
In the case of Bulgogi Sundubu, it is also slightly flat. This, of course, is my assessment because I like salty or sweet foods. Restaurant Wellbeing Dubu Maeul offers a plain tofu dish as its name suggests and thier material is faithful.


I opened the lid of the Sotbap after eating the Bulgogi Sundubu. A delicious-looking Nurungji was created. I would like to gently massage with a spoon. I feel relieved because of the scent of Nurungji that I enjoy dessert.

I will not be able to evaluate the whole restaurant after eating just Sundubu at the Wellbeing Dubu Maeul. If I have to evaluate here with Sotbap, Bulgogi Sundubu and Nurungji, it would be just normal!

But if you want to have a plain and healthy meal, I will recommend Wellbeing Dubu Maeul. Sotbap is definitely more delicious than ordinary rice. It is also a clear strength to be able to eat Nurungji for dessert. Wellbeing Dubu Maeul really seems to come to mind when I think of the tasty Nurungji.
