5 nice restaurants in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul/ 4. HaechoRang 해초랑


A new team member joined in my workplace so that my team had lunch together. The place was Korean Namdo seaweed restaurant 'HaechoRang'. As the name suggests, it is a place where you can enjoy Haecho(seaweed) and seafood.

Entrance of HaechoRang is colorful. It is changing the color continuously. I think that this entrance concept don't match well with the restaurant.


Restaurant HaechoRang is wide and have rooms. There is popular with workers to have Hwesik 회식(lunch or dinner together). The price of dishes of HaechoRang is a bit high compare to other

restaurants in Guro digital complex. I don't visit HaechoRang ordinarily. But today was Hwesik 회식 :)


This a Haecho Godeungeo Hansang(Seaweed mackerel table). I ate the 'Sigeumchi(spinach) Muchim' on the left side of the side dish really delicious. It wasn't not a special menu but I coundn't stop to keep hands on it. It was nice to put on rice and to eat lightly.

I thought it would be nice to have a Backban(simple korean lunch or dinner) menu with a lower price range.


They also served wasabi and soy sauce to eat mackerel, but the mackerel was salty that I could not eat much. Instead, I put up it on seaweed and tried it.


This is Mackerel which is main character of today's menu! It is a menu with a bit high price(though it is cheap in HaechoRang). Filled with fat, so poking through the end of the chopsticks,

I can feel tight and tough texture! It will double your satisfaction if you eat the mackerel carefully and eat the rice in the mackerel shell.

Even if you do not sprinkle the lemon that comes with Mackerel, there is no smell at all. I always sprinkle lemon, but if you do not like the sour finish, you can pass the lemon.


There is no photo, but Haecho(seaweeds) came out. You can feel the smell of the sea by eating seaweed and salted fish on rice. I like the seaweed-specific texture and keep eating it. It is a intimate ingredient rather than a delicacy.

Here was a HaechoRang that made me feel the cuisine and the taste of the Jeolla nam do which was far away from Seoul. Next time, I would like to go to dinner party and try expensive dish again. Seaweed can be found on the first floor of the Daeryung Post Tower. I really enjoyed the meal of today!

5 nice restaurants in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul/ 3. Hwangtae Jangin 황태장인



It is said that the fish with the most various nicknames among the fish is Myengtae(pollack). It's not exactly a nickname, it's a name based on cooking methods or preservation methods. If you dry pollack, it is Bukeo. And half dried pollack is Kodari and frozen pollack is called Dongtae. If it is dried and froze repetitive, we call it Hwangtae.

Today, I took a long way to Daeryung Post Tower 1st because I wanted to visit the restaurant Hwangtae Jangin. A picture of Hwangtae SeoleongTang is very impressive on window of the restaurant. There are many reasons why Hwangtae is popurar fish in South Korea. One of the reason is it makes soup delicious. So Hwangtae SeolongTang is unique that it put Hwangtae with meat stock together.


These are Eomuk(fried fish paste) and kimchi which are the basic side dishes of this restaurant. Both are ordinary and tasty. Basically I eaten Eomuk well. There is nothing remarkable about dishes, but I think that a standard quality is enough for office worker's lunch or dinner. In that sense, Hwangtae Jangin is nice choice.


It is a roasted Hwangtae. It cooked well with red pepper paste. I am very careful to evaluate only my feelings because the distinctive texture of Hwangtae is clearly divided. But I put it on rice and ate with a good appetite. I ate even one last piece.



I have ordered a Hwangtae Manduguk(dumpling soup). Dumplings and rice cakes are the main dish rather than Hwangtae. Unlike the roasted Hwangtae, Hwangtae is in charge of the supporting role in a dumpling soup.



  
Dumplings are also normal. I thought that Hwangtae is also in dumplings, but it did not have such an adventure. There are plenty of ingredients to make seasonings such as Gim and leek and Somyeon noodle.

The more I look at it from here on out, this restaurant is faithful to the basics. In the end, it is a strategy to introduce a unique item called 'Hwangtae' and to stick to the basics for the rest.

I think that even if it does not become a famouse restaurant from other cities, it creates a decent restaurant that can be trusted by nearbye workers who want to have lunch and dinner.




They are selling Hwangtae at the store counter. I think that HwangtaeJangin is a fighter who is faithful to the basic skills. Choices that have not failed for busy workers, this is Hwangtae Jangin.

5 nice restaurants in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul/ 2. The Deundeun Seonji HaejangGuk 더든든 선지해장국



When Korean feel chilly or hangover, like to visit a Seonji HaejangGuk(warm soup with blood pudding) restaurant. I found a good beef Haejangguk restaurant near my office. I feel dizzy a bit  like anemia today, so I order Seonji HaejangGuk.

The Deundeun Seonji HaejangGuk is nice place to eat beef HaejangGuk but I think their dish quality control isn't enough. Sometimes I have just a part of beef and the other day I have so many parts of beef in HaejangGuk. It depends on luck for the day. 


I can see the rice bowl on one side of the restaurant. If you want to eat some more rice you can carry it by yourself. The basic side dishes are basic like other HaejangGuk restaurants.

They serve Kkakdugi Kimchi and Cabbage Kimchi as side dishes. Crispy Kkakdugi. The first side dish that can not be imitated in foreign countries are Kakdugi and Dongchimi. I can see Cabbage Kimchi also  but I ate only Kkakdugi Kimchi. I think that Kkakdugi goes well with in Hapjangguk more than Cabbage Kimchi.



This is Seonji HaejangGuk of The Deundeun restaurant. The full ingredients in Ddukbaegi bowl make me feel happy. It also have lots of Seonji. In fact, Seonji is not such expensive food but some restaurants don't use enough Seonji.

The color of Seonji is nice. If you eat wrong HaejangGuk, the color isn't good and also the smell is fishy. The  Deundeun's Seonji HaejangGuk is a passing grade.

My impression after eating this HaejangGuk a bit, is not bad. Actually Seonji HaejangGuk isn't easy to be delicious. Cause its main ingredient Seonji's flavor is simple. But sametime if HaejangGuk is made wrong, it can be a kind of nasty food.

Luckily, HaejangGuk of the Deundeun Seonji shows a taste that goes over the middle. The warm soup and rich texture of Seonji makes me nod. 



It also have meat which is mixed with beef soup. The quality of the meat is also delicious because it is the meat from the original beef soup. The beef is likely to become stiff if it boils long in the soup.
In case of beef of The Deundeun is chewed gently and lightly. It seems that there is know-how to keep meat soft.

I would like to take a spoonful of rice with Seonji, and then eat it again. It is not such a delicious food that shows praise but it will come to mind again after eating. Other foods cannot immitate its unique texture and feelling something nutritious.

It can not be said that Seonji HaejangGuk of the Deundeun is superior than the other one. But it is clear that it is one of nice HaejangGuk restaurant in Guro digital complex, Seoul. I will come back to The Deundeun Seonji HaejangGuk restaurant when i feel dizzy again.

5 nice restaurants in Guro Digital Complex, Seoul/ 1. Wondang GamjaTang 원당감자탕


I finally found a nice place to eat near my office! I was always finding for a delicious 'Sundae Guk' and a restaurant 'Wondang GamJatang' made me happy. The potato soup of Wondang Gamjatang is delicious, but thier Sundae Guk is more delicious.

The potato on the door of Wondang GamJatang is a friendly character. There is a saying that Gamja of Gamja tang is not potatoes, and also there is a saying that that is right. (The pronunciaion of Gamja means potato in Korean.) 

There is also the opinion that the spinal cord of the pig's spine is named Gamja, and I personally believe that this is more reliable. There are many other kinds of Tang(Korean soupes) that contain potatoes but thier name aren't related with Gamja, so I think Gamja means the pig's spine. 


Here is a Gamja Tang restaurant but sells various soup dishes. In fact, if the taste of Gamja Tang is delicious, Yuksu(broth) is delicious. And if Yuksu is delicious, other Tangs will be delicious.



The basic dishes of Gamja Tang restaurnats is of course kimchi and kakdugi! Like their Gamja tang, Kimchi and kakdugi are also taste. The carrots are soft so it is a bit disappointing. I like crunchy carrots. And Dadaegi(seasoning), I think it's a bit different from the regular Dadaegi, isn't it?


It is the Sundae Guk of my evening meal of today. When you look at it from the outside, it seems to be no different from others, but this soup is thick and it has very deep taste. It is real true that if Yuksu(broth) is delicious, Tang(soup) is also delicious.

If Yangjae's restaurant Hanguk Sundae raised up the pig taste just before the smell of pigs can anyone feel, here Wondang Gamja Tang in Guro Digital complex express the pig smell a bit. But it's not unpleasant cause the smell and taste of Sundae Guk are well balanced. Sundae is also very authentic.

Sundae Guk of here has a lot of solid stuff in soup. In addition, the ingredients are all big, so I can feel chewy well and full without insufficient. From plentiful ingredients to deep taste, I have finally found the perfect Sundae Guk restaurant in the Guro digital complex,Seoul.


Uniquely, Somyen noodles enter the Sundae Guk. I don't think it's going to be in the menu of other Sundae Guk. In fact it's my first time I have seen Somyen in Gamja Tang. And It is not the level they just put in Somyen noodles. I liked Somyen in Sundae Guk. It has a soft texture that I can not taste anywhere else.


I would like to recommend WonDang Gamjatang where you can run without hesitation in the day when you want to eat Sundae Guk in the nearest place from Guro Digital Complex station. I hope it will develop well like Japan's ramen and open a lot of restaurants in the whole Korea. I really enjoyed the meal in Wondang Gamjatang.
